IN THE STONE
This series of paintings was presented for the first time in the 2012 solo show in Rome at the Ugo Ferranti gallery.
It shows a disturbing and gloomy world of hard and sharp stone volumes in which petrified but alive human figures are immersed, as if this is their natural and tragic condition of existence. The objective lucidity of the representation, the exaltation of the perspective three-dimensionality and the plasticity of the volumes, with their intersections and their cuts, are the distinctive features of a contemporary formal research, which plays on the coexistence of figuration and abstraction, but which is at the same time a homage to the tradition of early Renaissance Italian painting.
